2. Baking Soda
Take a pinch of baking soda and it to your toothpaste and then use this to brush your teeth. Use warm water or a mouthwash to rinse it off. This can give you instant teeth whitening as baking soda removes plaque and makes your teeth appear whiter.
Mash one or two strawberries and mix it with a teaspoon of baking soda. Use this mixture and rub it on your teeth for five to seven minutes. If there are strawberry seeds stuck between your teeth you can floss them out. Strawberries have malic acid which does an excellent job at removing coffee, tea or red wine stains from teeth. Use this mixture once a week.
4. Charcoal Paste
Mix a pinch of charcoal powder with a small amount of water and apply this mixture all over your teeth. Leave it on for two minutes and then rinse your mouth with water until all remnants of charcoal are gone. Charcoal kills bacteria before it can stain the teeth thus helping in getting brighter teeth.
5. Banana Peel
After you brush your teeth and floss them too, peel a ripe banana and rub the inside of the banana peel on your teeth for two minutes. Then rinse it with water. The inside of a banana peel is rich in potassium, magnesium, manganese and a lot of other nutrients that can make your teeth look whiter.
Mix one part apple cider vinegar to three parts water and then mix this solution with your regular toothpaste. Use the mixture to brush your teeth. Apple Cider Vinegar has the ability to boost up the whitening power of any toothpaste.
7. Hydrogen Per Oxide
Hydrogen per Oxide is one of the best bleaching agents out there. One way to use hydrogen peroxide is to use it as a mouthwash before brushing your teeth. But make sure you are using a 1.5% solution. The normal drugstore solution is 3% so you can dilute it by mixing equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water to get a 1.5% solution.
Another way to use hydrogen peroxide is to mix 2 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide and 1 teaspoon of baking soda to make a toothpaste. Use this mixture twice a week to brush your teeth.
8. Oil Pulling
This is a traditional Indian method that has been in use for centuries. Oil pulling is the practice of swishing oil in your mouth to remove bacteria which could turn to plaque. Sunflower or sesame oil is preferred for oil pulling but any oil can work. Coconut oil is one of the most commonly used oils for this method as it has a comparatively pleasant taste.
All you have to do is take 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and put it in your mouth and push and pull the oil between your teeth. Repeat this process for a good 20 minutes. You can do this as frequently as you want because using coconut oil has no side effects.
Make a thin paste using organic turmeric powder and a little water, use this to gently brush your teeth for two minutes. Rinse your mouth and then brush with your regular toothpaste. Turmeric is an abrasive that can remove stains to reveal whiter teeth. Turmeric is also a natural antimicrobial which makes it a great choice.
10. Use Fruits and Vegetables
A good diet that includes fruits and vegetables can do wonders to your body. But it also helps our teeth. When you chew raw and crunchy fruits or vegetables it helps in rubbing the plaque away. In fact, strawberries and pineapples have been claimed by many to help whiten your teeth.
Home remedies to whiten your teeth won’t produce instant dramatic results. They help by gradually getting you a whiter smile. Instead of losing hope it is better to track your day to day progress.
